Key Training had a strong reputation for supporting learners in maths, English and functional skills. However, they recognised that many learners had broader, hidden needs that weren’t being addressed — needs that directly affected their confidence, progress, and overall success. With over 1,000 learners across apprenticeships, traineeships and adult education, the team wanted to go beyond academic skills to provide holistic, personalised support for every learner. They needed a scalable, evidence-based way to identify cognitive needs and deliver consistent, high-quality support across their entire organisation.

The solution
Key Training partnered with Cognassist to embed cognition into everyday learning and create a best-in-class learner support system. By assessing every learner digitally, they quickly identified that over a third required additional support. The team built a network of Cognassist Champions across the business — empowering learner coaches to deliver targeted interventions, complete accurate funding applications, and share best practice. With Cognassist’s evidence-based insights, Key Training ensured every learner received the right help at the right time, while maintaining compliance and improving quality across all programmes.
