Cognassist Training (ActiveUpskill) is on-demand, just-in-time inclusive teaching CPD, delivered through the same platform that runs assess, plan, do and review. Not a separate learning management system (LMS) to log into. Not a once-a-year event. Staff learn at the point of need, in the flow of their work.

How it works

Courses are role-based and mapped to what each role does at each stage of the cycle, not abstract inclusion awareness. Advisory recommendations point each person to the right starting point, and anyone can open any course. Because the platform does the heavy lifting and lowers the specialism bar, tutors bring judgement, not admin.

What it produces

Capability across the workforce, and a leader's view of it

Capability stops depending on the few specialists you can't hire enough of, and new staff onboard through the same platform and the same role-based recommendations, so practice stays consistent as the workforce turns over. A structured, in-platform CPD offer also helps you evidence how leadership develops staff capability, part of what Ofsted weighs and where SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) reform is heading. It does not make you compliant or guarantee a grade.

  • What is inclusive teaching CPD, and what is Cognassist Training?
    Cognassist Training is on-demand, just-in-time continuing professional development for staff, built into the same platform that runs assess, plan, do and review. Role-based courses build confident, consistent inclusive teaching, in the flow of work, rather than in a separate system or a once-a-year event.
  • Is this a separate LMS or an annual training course?
    Neither. It is on-demand CPD in the same platform your staff already use: a full course library and an in-app drawer that opens in context, so learning happens at the point of need, not in a parallel learning management system and not once a year.
  • Who is it for?
    Staff: tutors, coaches and leaders. It is gated to non-learners at every level, so learners are not in it. Learners have their own support and their own Cognassist learning assistant.
  • Do our tutors need to be specialists?
    No. Inclusion is everyone's job. The platform does the heavy lifting and lowers the specialism bar, so a confident non-specialist can deliver good, evidenced support. Your specialist and learning-support team is amplified, not replaced, and reserved for the most complex needs, so you can build inclusion capability, including SEND support, across your staff without hiring more specialists. Tutors are set up for success, not left alone.
  • Can leaders see who has completed their training?
    Yes. An admin and manager team report shows whether each staff member has completed their recommended courses. It is a completion view of who has done their recommended training, not a measure of whether capability improved.
  • Is there an AI coach for tutors?
    Cognassist's Kai AI is live for learners. A tutor-facing coach is on our roadmap and not available yet, so it is not part of the training today. The in-the-flow-of-work training rests on the on-demand course library and the in-app drawer.
  • Does it make us Ofsted-compliant or meet the SEND staff-training duty?
    No tool can. A structured, in-platform CPD offer with a completion view helps you build and evidence how leadership develops staff capability, part of the evidence base inspectors consider. The SEND reform staff-training duty is the direction of travel, not yet law. Cognassist does not make you compliant, no regulator requires or approves it, and it does not guarantee a grade.
